Visiting and Settling In

Before starting playgroup, you are very welcome to visit with your child at any time. In September we have a staggered intake system which enables children to become familiar with the Staff, other children and the Playgroup environment in a gentle way.  During the first few sessions some parents/carers feel happy to leave their children to settle in whilst others prefer to stay for a while at the beginning of the session. The staff respect the fact that children may have different needs when it comes to settling in and will do everything possible to help them feel welcome, happy and confident.

Key-worker System

Your child will have a key-worker allocated to them and the key-worker will be responsible for recording your child’s development with notes or photos and from this they will be able to produce a report on your child’s progress.

Six areas of learning are;

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Physical Development
  • Language Development
  • Mathematical Experiences
  • The Arts
  • World Around Us

Newsletters are once a month and this keeps parents up-to-date with what’s happening in the playgroup.

Uniform is optional and is available from Select Kidz in Magherafelt.

Healthy eating is encouraged and we provide a variety of healthy foods and fruit daily along with a drink of milk or water for the children. Menu for the week is normally posted on the notice-board at the door.

The playgroup is partly funded by the SELB and the remainder of our finance has to be raised through fees, grants and fundraisers such as Sponsored events, Smarties Fundrasier, raffles etc.

The fees for funded children are;

Term 1 – £60

Term 2 – £50

Term 3 – £50

The fees for part-time non funded children are £5 per session and this is payable one month in advance.

£10 registration fee at the start of term.

The fees help go towards children’s snack, party days, celebrating special occasions, resources and supplies.
